The trouble showed up a little later. Telling sounds apart was hard. I couldn't tell words apart. I couldn't tie my shoelaces. Reading aloud made me break into a sweat. I couldn't speak fluently in a hurry. At school I'd go mute rather than answer things I knew. I wouldn't cry out loud even after a sharp rap from the ruler. I didn't laugh at tiffin time. Relatives worried endlessly. What was the poor thing to do, with such stubborn dyslexia!
